Losing a job may be more significant than losing its income. With luck, finding another may replace the lost income. But being “let go” also takes a toll on how we feel about our self, and particularly if you previously felt secure in employment, in the community of co-workers. Feelings of “failure” can take a serious toll on self-confidence, increase anxiety and depression, resulting in misdirected and unnecessary tension at home. Anxiety and depression can reduce self-confidence making it more difficult to self-motivate in the search for new employment.
